September, 2011
Acting under our USEPA Region 2 ERRS Contract, ER has mobilized 40 + emergency response personnel to 8 sites throughout New York state to execute Hurricane Irene cleanup activities. Our response teams have established staging areas to collect, categorize and provide disposal for Household and Hazardous Waste (HHW) scattered during the storm.

 

August, 2011
ER opens regional office number 18 in Glendive, MT.

Engineering News Record, the industry journal, ranks Environmental Restoration LLC at number 80 among the Top 200 Environmental Firms in the nation.

 

July 2011:
ER mobilized an emergency response crew of 50 to a 42,000 gallon crude oil spill on the Yellowstone River, near Billings, MT. The source of the spill is a ruptured pipeline. ER crew activities include placing oil absorbent boom to contain oil and clearing oil soaked foliage and debris along the riverbank and surrounding lowlands.

 

June 2011 
ER opens a regional office in Cincinnati, OH to accommodate our growing commercial and government sectors business.

 

May 2011 
ER added 5 Mack tri-axle dump trucks to our existing fleet of heavy equipment.

 

April 2011 
ER was awarded USEPA’s Administrators Award for “Outstanding Accomplishments by a Small Business Contractor” for work completed in FY2009. ER was nominated for this prestigious award by EPA Region 5.

 

February 2011 
Environmental Restoration LLC (ER) was recently added to The Engineering News-Record’s “The Top 200 Environmental Firms” in the nation.

 

July 2010
Michigan Oil Spill

ER mobilized boats and crew in response to an oil spill on the Kalamazoo River near Marshall, MI. A pipeline system leaked approximately 877,000 gallons of oil into a creek which leads to the Kalamazoo River. To date, 45,000 feet of boom have been placed.

Gulf of Mexico Spill

ER has been a part of the oil spill cleanup from the beginning of this event by supplying boom, boats and crew. Initially, our crew was on scene at numerous sites in three states as part of the cleanup effort. Our crew is providing on-going services for this effort. 

 

March, 2010
Jacobsville Neighborhood Soil Contamination Site- Evansville, IN

ER crew has been providing removal and remediation activities on this site since April, 2010. The site covers approximately 250 acres and is primarily residential. High levels of lead were found in the soil, the result of decades of manufacturing activities on the site. ER crew tasks include removal of contaminated soil from residential properties, installation of clean backfill, re-seeding and restoration activities. To date, crew removed 4000 tons of contaminated soil with a total of 83 properties completed. This project is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

 

January, 2009
Miller Plating, ERRS, USEPA Region 5

ER crews have begun cleanup activities at an electroplating facility located near Evansville, IN. These activities include collecting, hazcatting and providing approved T&D for 65,000 + gallons of plating fluids, acids, cyanides and other hazardous liquids stored in tanks, vats, drums, pits, totes and in process lines in the main plating building. ER crews decommissioned, decontaminated and demolished an on-site chemical storage warehouse and wastewater treatment system. This project is expected to be completed in April, 2009.

 

August, 2008
Kenyon Pierce Landfill,
ERRS, USEPA Region 1

ER crew are performing removal actions for buried containers and drums containing various hazardous liquids including benzene, MEK, toluene and other chemicals at an abandoned former solid landfill site. Crew excavated drums and containers, overpacked, staged, counted, inventoried, inspected and provided air monitoring. To date, 4000 + drums, pails and containers of various sizes have been exhumed at this site. Work is on-going. Planned activities include backfill of excavated areas and installation of an earthen cover. This spring, crew will oversee T&D of hazardous substances to an offsite CERCLA approved site.

 

September, 2008 
Hospital Response

ER’s emergency response crew was called in for the decontamination of the Emergency Room of the state’s busiest hospital. The highly toxic chemical Nitroaniline was the source of contamination. Residue of this chemical had contaminated the clothing of workers at a chemical re-packaging facility where the spill had occurred earlier in the day. These workers were sent to the hospital emergency room, contaminating areas of the hospital. The Emergency Room and other areas of the hospital were on “lock-down” status until ER’s response crew completed the decontamination process.

 

July, 2008 
Tanker Barge collision oil spill

ER crew provided spill recovery services to contain 400,000+ gallons of fuel oil which spilled into the Mississippi River after an oil tanker collided with a barge. Oil poured into the river just off the banks of downtown New Orleans. US Coast Guard closed off a 100-mile stretch of the Mississippi River from the port of New Orleans to the Gulf of Mexico. ER’s crew worked with the US Coast Guard and stayed on-site for eight weeks to contain and recover oil spilled by this incident.

 

June, 2008 
Iowa Flood

ER responded with an initial crew of 100+ to areas in Iowa flooded by the overflowing Cedar and Iowa Rivers. ER managed hazardous waste recovery operations from a command post in Cedar Rapids. In addition to Cedar Rapids, recovery services were provided for Iowa City, Waterloo and several surrounding smaller communities. ER boat ops’ crew managed, recovered and transported HHW, orphan containers and white goods to three staging areas for waste sampling and segregation. ER worked with officials from FEMA, USEPA and IDNR to mitigate HHW dispersed by flood waters.

 

May, 2008 
City of Jacksonville

ER crew excavated 20,000 + tons of lead contaminated soil at two public schools sites in Jacksonville, FL. Our crew worked with city officials and local engineering firms to complete restoration in time for the 2008 fall term.

Missouri River Diesel Spill

ER crew responded to an oil spill in the Missouri River near West Alton. ER crew deployed boom to contain the spill that resulted when the towboat collided with a rock dam, releasing diesel fuel. Our crew worked with the US Coast Guard and MDNR to contain and recover spilled fuel.
